BMW M3 Pure Edition comes from a Land Down Under

If there's another place on Earth where they love V8 sedans and coupes as much as Americans, surely it's Australia. It's the land of the V8 Supercars series, Holden Commodores, FPV Falcons, Eric Bana's beloved beast and the country that gave us back the Pontiac GTO and the underpinnings for the latest Chevy Camaro. And with the Germans leading the charge these days with the likes of the BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, it's only fitting that the Land Down Under should get its own special edition.

Following the release of the Frozen Gray edition and word of the upcoming Tiger edition for China comes news of a special M3 just for Australia. Called the Pure Edition, it packs some unique touches, including glossy black 19-inch split-spoke alloys, dark chrome trim and an Anthracite cloth and black leather interior. That's about the extent of the special touches fitted to either the coupe or sedan - of which only 50 examples will be made. The Pure Edition comes standard in the metallic white pictured here, though a raft of optional metallic color choices are available, including - appropriately enough - Melbourne Red.

BMW announces end of M6 production

Like it or not, it's officially time to say auf wiedersehen to the potent M6. BMW has just announced that it has ceased production of both the M6 coupe and convertible. The uniquely styled GT cars primarily found favor here in the U.S., with a total of 3,528 of the hardtops and 3,247 convertibles sold on American soil. In total, the company managed to sell 14,152 of the cars since production of the M6 started in 2005. As you may recall, the drophead version didn't hit the assembly line until 2006.

We're sure the loss of the M6 is a heartbreak to some out there, but we know that there's a replacement model on the horizon, and we're more morose over the news that BMW is also sending the muscular V10 at the heart of the car to pasture at the same time. That's right, kids. BMW is no longer planning to shoehorn a 10-pot into any vehicle it makes, opting instead for forced induction and eight cylinders. The 5.0-liter engine with its astronomical 8,250 rpm redline is the stuff of mechanical daydreams. Or at least it was. Hit the jump for the full press blast.

greetings all,

names kyle, and im a student keen on projects...some history, built my 1st car a while back and wrote it off last year, spent a few months in hospital...recently just sold a e36 328i, never had much fun, prefer the e30 for power to weight ratio...

looking to get back into an e30 sometime soon and customizing the hell of hit...so i figured i'd do some research round here 1st, looking forward to helpful info and smart ideas from past builds...very much still a noob, so i'm pretty excited to see what all has been created round here...guided by dreams to this forum where bmw dreams become reality

hi everybody im new to this forum... i just got a new d3 fitted in and im well happy with the outstanding headunit. i looked into many headunit that were up on halford and maplin but nothing came upto standards.

i also just read on a previous topic that someone else had one fitted in also by the same company i went to. i really didnt know they were that big? anyone else heard of them? TTints?

anyway they have this really WKD showroom that i recommend everybody to go see its sooo awesome!!

i just love my new d3 its the best. its like i got an iphone or ps3.. :woot:woot:woot:woot:woot

MINI Countryman UK Debut – Info, Photos, Video

The newest and largest MINI model - the Countryman is set to launch in the UK market on Sep. 18, 2010. The Countryman will be the first MINI to have 4-doors, seat 5 adults and offer four wheel drive (AWD). The MINI Countryman will be available in seven models, two of which will offer ALL4, MINI’s new four wheel drive option. Countryman offers more space, more practicality and more versatility than any MINI before and it will also spearhead MINI’s return to the World Rally Championship in 2011.

“Countryman takes the MINI story to a new level in the brand’s 51 year heritage” said Jochen Goller, Director of MINI UK. “With extra space, ALL4 and four doors we believe the MINI Countryman will appeal to a completely new audience and with prices starting at £16,000 with a very high standard specification, I think we are on to a winner” he said. “The fact that Countryman is already sold out for this year indicates that MINI showrooms are going to be popular this autumn” Goller observed.
